A brief history of me.
Ok, so I lied just a tiny bit on the About page when I said this website was not about me. This bit is (or rather my work history). Here is the quick and dirty version, for full details of my work history visit my LinkedIn profile.
In 2000 I graduated from university with a BA Hons in Media Studies. Newly out of uni I landed a position as a marketing assistant. This was an extremely diverse role but most importantly, during this I taught myself how to build websites. After that there was no going back!
Between 2007 and 2010 I worked as a web developer for several of the most prominent design agencies in Shropshire at the time. My roles varied from art worker to front end developer and then PHP developer in either a full time / part time or a freelance capacity.
In April 2010 I decided it was time to strike out on my own. I took a huge leap of faith, quit my job and set up as a sole trader. After 18 months of working successfully as a sole trader, on October 4th 2011 Kirsty Burgoine Ltd. was born.
Since then I’ve worked with clients large and small including Mike Bracken (head of GOV.UK), The Marches LEP, Skoll Scholarship (a part of Oxford University), YMCA Black Country Group, Booka Bookshop, Coopers Sausage Rolls, Polly’s Ice Cream Parlour, to name but a few!
Nowadays, I specialise in WordPress development in whatever form that may take. Most of what I do is designing and building bespoke websites using WordPress, along with my team, but I do also release WordPress plugins from time to time and maintain / improve already existing WordPress websites as well.
I’m a big supporter of the WordPress community and active within it. I regularly attend some of the local WordPress Meet-ups and WordCamps and I often give talks at these events about my experiences working in the web industry and using WordPress specifically.
I’ve also run some workshops on advanced theme development in the past and, I write blogs and tutorials for some of the more popular WordPress related websites.
